Welcome to the Mid North Coast DSA.
DSA MNC branch began back in Spring 2007 when Bryn Goode and Barney Miller, locals to the Sawtell and Coffs Harbour area, decided to call a training day to gauge interest in the local community. Overwhelmed with some 75 new trainees, Jim Bradley and the DSAA crew jumped straight into the training and the branch has never looked back. Barney Miller, himself wheelchair-bound as a result of a motor vehicle accident, became the unofficial ‘patron’ of the branch in its formative years. Donations from Barney’s annual ‘Barney Miller Surf Classic’ held at Sawtell helped the initial deck out of equipment.
Fast forward to the 2019-2020 season and whilst we’ve seen natural attrition of committee members, sponsors and volunteers, DSA MNC has continued to go from strength to strength maintaining 4 events every season in October, November, January and February.
During his time in office, we were very fortunate to have Local Federal Member of Parliament Luke Hartsuyker as a long-time supporter of all things DSA. Luke attended many events as a volunteer, and has donated thousands of dollars to the branch from his annual charity bike ride around his electorate on the mid north coast of NSW. This enabled the branch over recent seasons to accumulate a trailer load of quality equipment including three specialised beach wheelchairs.

OUR EVENTS
Volunteers can sign on from 8am, carers and participants from 8.30am. Surfing starts approximately 9am and concludes around 11.45am when everyone gathers for a sausage sizzle and presentation.
